Hoje é dia vinte e quatro de outubro, quinta-feira da vigésima nona semana do tempo comum.
Podes dizer muitas palavras,
recitar muitas orações que sabes de cor…
se não tiveres confiança no Senhor,
estás apenas a falar contigo ou a praticar a arte da ilusão.
Mas a confiança não é fácil,
sobretudo quando tudo parece correr mal,
quando o presente parece não ter saída
e o futuro é uma palavra sem sentido.
Deixa que a confiança seja a alma do teu dia…
e com este desejo começa a tua oração.
Escuta esta passagem do Evangelho segundo São Lucas.
Lc 12, 49-53
Jesus disse aos seus discípulos:
«Eu vim trazer o fogo à terra
e que quero Eu senão que ele se acenda?
Tenho de receber um baptismo
e estou ansioso até que ele se realize.
Pensais que Eu vim estabelecer a paz na terra?
Não.
Eu vos digo que vim trazer a divisão.
A partir de agora,
estarão cinco divididos numa casa:
três contra dois e dois contra três.
Estarão divididos o pai contra o filho e o filho contra o pai,
a mãe contra a filha e a filha contra a mãe,
a sogra contra a nora e a nora contra a sogra».
Seguir Jesus implica renunciar ao mal, ao egoísmo, e a escolha do bem, da verdade e da justiça, mesmo quando isto exige sacrifício e renúncia aos próprios interesses. Esta decisão implica divisão, até dos vínculos mais estreitos.

Afirma o Papa Francisco: “Jesus não quer dividir os homens entre si, pelo contrário: Jesus é a nossa paz, é a nossa reconciliação!”
Sentes paz quando escolhes seguir Jesus?
Recorda que Jesus estava desejoso do momento de divisão, que era na verdade a sua Paixão. É esse o batismo ao qual Ele se refere hoje no Evangelho.
No final deste tempo de oração, entrega ao Senhor as tuas dúvidas e receios no caminho do seu seguimento. Pede a graça de não te deixares seduzir pelos atalhos na vida, de venceres as tentações e jamais abandonares o estandarte de Cristo.
Glória ao Pai e ao Filho e ao Espírito Santo.
